As seen in

A woman sits on a wooden chair outdoors in front of a dense green ivy-covered wall. She is wearing a white dress, a beige beret, and a navy blue neck scarf.

Crafted as Art, Worn with Purpose

A woman stands with her back to the camera in a garden courtyard, holding up a large patterned blanket or throw. The blanket features a cream background with a floral and botanical design in black, brown, and muted blue.

Events

Some of the nicest conversations I have happen in person. There is something about being able to pick up a scarf, feel the weight of it, hold it up to the light and see how the colours move, tricky to replicate in a photograph.

A person uses a blue handheld woll comb on a brown and cream color-blocked knit cardigan laid flat on a white surface.

Care & repair

A few simple habits will keep your lambswool looking and feeling its best for years. Natural fibres are more forgiving than people think. They mostly just ask to be treated gently and not washed too often.

FAQs

Where is Cotswold Knit made?

Each piece is designed by Anna Wheeler in her Warwickshire studio in the Cotswolds, where she makes the first prototype herself. Production takes place at a small factory in Leicestershire, by craftsmen we know and work with directly. A few knits are
made in Portugal in a small factory that holds our values with each piece
made with the same care and craftsmanship as the UK.

What fibre do you use?

We use 100% lambswool, RWS and GOTS-certified and spun by Todd and Duncan in Scotland. Lambswool is a natural, renewable fibre with a softness and elasticity that synthetics cannot replicate. Properly cared for, it lasts for decades and improves with age.

A small number of pieces use a bouclé yarn, chosen for its distinctive looped texture and softness. Bouclé requires a fine nylon structural thread running through it during spinning to hold those loops in place; without it, the yarn would break during knitting and the piece wouldn't last. This combined with an Italian merino wool provides a tactile contrast in the pieces it’s knitted into.

Is Cotswold Knit a sustainable brand?

Sustainability shapes how we work. We make in small batches, use natural fibres that biodegrade, source locally where possible, and repurpose yarn left over from production. Our view is that the most sustainable thing you can do is buy well, care for your knitwear and keep it for a long time.

Small batches, made to order

We produce in small runs. This means we make only what we need, and we never
hold large quantities of unsold stock. Less made, less wasted.

Natural fibres

We work with natural fibres because they perform better, age well, and are
fully biodegradable too. A well-made lambswool or merino knit, properly cared
for, can last for years. Buy less, Buy better

Locally sourced

Our Corozo buttons come from a button-maker 15 miles away. They use traditional
techniques & new technology and the natural materials they use are ethical
and fully sustainable.

Yarn ends repurposed

Most production runs leave some yarn colours that are left over. Rather than
discard them, we use these small amounts of yarn to design smaller accessories
in unique colourways. No two are exactly alike, and nothing goes to waste.

Responsibly sourced wool

Our Lambswool is RWS and GOTS Certified, which ensures the sheep are well cared
for and the land managed thoughtfully throughout the supply chain. Mulesing is
strictly prohibited under this standard.

Who is the designer?
