Privacy Policy
We know privacy policies can feel a little impersonal, so we tried to write ours clearly and
honestly. Cotswold Knit is a small, independently run business and we take the trust you
place in us seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we
collect it, and how we keep it safe.
Cotswold Knit is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. If you have any questions
at all, please do get in touch with Anna directly at hello@cotswoldknit.co.uk.
What information we collect
When you place an order
When you buy from us through our website, we collect the information needed to process
and fulfil your order. This includes your name, delivery address, billing address, email
address, and phone number. Payment details are handled securely by Stripe (via their Link
payment service) we never see or store your full card details.
When you visit our website
Our website uses the Facebook Pixel, which helps us understand how people find and
interact with our site so we can make our advertising more relevant. This may involve the
collection of anonymised data about your browsing behaviour. You can manage your
preferences through our cookie notice when you first visit the site.
Our website is built on WordPress with WooCommerce, which may store technical
information such as your session and cart contents to make shopping easier.
When you sign up to hear from us
If you choose to join our mailing list whether through our website, at a fair or event, or by
another means we collect your name and email address so we can send you news from the
studio, new collections, and the occasional journal entry. We use Mailchimp to manage our
mailing list.
When you pay in person
At markets and events, we use SumUp to process card payments. If you choose to receive a
digital receipt, your email address is passed to SumUp for that purpose. Please see
SumUp's own privacy policy for details of how they handle your data.
Why we use your information
We only use your personal data where we have a lawful reason to do so. Here is how that
breaks down:
To fulfil your order
Processing your payment, sending your order, and keeping you informed of its progress.
This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
To send you marketing communications
If you have opted in to hear from us, we will occasionally send news about new designs,
events, and our journal. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we
send. This is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
To reach existing customers with similar products
Where you have purchased from us, we may send you occasional updates about new
collections or products similar to those you have bought. This is based on our legitimate
interest in keeping our customers informed, and you can always opt out.
To improve our marketing
We use the Facebook Pixel to understand how our advertising performs. This is based on
your consent, given through our cookie notice.
To comply with legal obligations
We are required to keep certain records, such as transaction information, for tax and
accounting purposes.
